The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), will headline the 28th Annual Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) on July 26 at the Providence Hotel in Ikeja GRA. This pivotal event will bring together aviation industry CEOs, key stakeholders, and experts to address the critical challenges facing Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Mr. Keyamo will spearhead discussions focused on resolving the current issues within the industry and outlining strategies for sustainable growth and development. The conference’s theme, “Aviation Survivability Amidst A Challenging Macro-economic Environment,” underscores the urgency of tackling obstacles such as limited access to forex, currency depreciation, high fuel and maintenance costs, infrastructure deficiencies, regulatory constraints, and the need for technological advancements.
Emphasizing the importance of stakeholder contributions, Mr. Keyamo stated, “Stakeholders remain a key component in my quest to reposition the aviation sector to a globally competitive standard. Past recommendations from LAAC conferences have been instrumental in shaping positive developments within the sector.”
The conference will be chaired by Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, CEO of CITA Group, with moderation by Captain Hamisu Yadudu, former Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Engr. Umar Farouk, Managing Director of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), will deliver the keynote address, setting the stage for panel discussions featuring industry leaders like Capt. Chris Najomo (Acting Director General, NCAA), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku (MD/CEO, FAAN), and Dr. Wale Babalakin (Chairman, BASL).
