Tilewa Adebajo, the CEO of The CFG Advisory, is set to speak at the Financial Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) monthly forum on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The forum, which will take place at the Secretariat, Onipanu, Lagos and begin at 11 am, will feature Adebajo’s presentation on “Nigeria’s Fiscal Environment in an Era of Monetary Policy Tightening.”
This event comes at a crucial time as Nigeria undergoes significant changes in its monetary and fiscal policies. These reforms are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s broader agenda, aiming to stabilize and invigorate the nation’s economy. FICAN Chairman, Chima Titus Nwokoji has highlighted several pressing issues to be addressed at the forum, stemming from these policy adjustments led by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Ministry of Finance.
Key questions to be explored include the effectiveness of the recent policy changes, the financial health of the nation, and the capability of both federal and state governments to meet the minimum wage requirements. The forum will also examine the sustainability of Nigeria’s growing debt burden, the current status of the naira, and the CBN’s ambitious target to achieve 21% inflation. The timing and feasibility of reaching this inflation target will be a focal point of the discussions.
Mr Adebajo’s insights will be invaluable in dissecting these complex economic challenges and providing a clearer understanding of Nigeria’s fiscal landscape in the face of tightening monetary policies. The forum is expected to attract significant attention from stakeholders and observers keen on the country’s economic direction and the impacts of ongoing reforms.
