Members of the Aeronautical Information Management Association of Nigeria (AIMAN) have been advised to consistently maintain high standards in their duties to enhance aviation safety.
Alhaji Kabiru Gusau, General Manager of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), delivered this advice during the handover ceremony to the newly elected AIMAN executive. Gusau, represented by Mr. James Olalekan, Quality Manager of NAMA, emphasized the critical role of AIMAN in the aviation sector.
Gusau encouraged AIMAN members to identify and address pressing needs within the association. He highlighted that without AIS, the aviation sector’s functionality would be compromised. He called for teamwork among members, noting that achieving great things requires collective effort, not superhuman abilities.
The outgoing AIMAN President, Mr. William Ngerem, urged his successor to collaborate with NAMA’s management team, praising its talented members, especially the Managing Director. Ngerem advised the new executives to avoid petition writing, which hinders progress, and to engage management diplomatically.
Ngerem also pointed out the expertise within AIS, suggesting that knowledgeable personnel are available to assist. He encouraged the association to utilize these resources for AIMAN’s advancement, regardless of executive status. On the issue of licensing AIS personnel, Ngerem assured that there is hope for licensing but recommended maintaining internal certification and competence.
Dr. Ibrahim Audu, the new AIMAN President, expressed gratitude to those who supported his election and called for collective efforts to ensure the association’s success. Audu committed to engaging serious-minded individuals for AIMAN’s development and warned against the “pull him down syndrome,” which damages reputations.
Audu promised a promising tenure and pledged to advance AIMAN to new heights, ready to commence work immediately.
