NIMASA DG, Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi
The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi yesterday rains encomiums on the Ndi Igbo when a delegation of the Igbo paid him a visit to the agency’s headquarters in team spirit for the appointment of one of their own, Mr. Obi Calistus Nwabueze, as NIMASA Executive Director, in charge of Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services.
Akpobolokemi was generous in his praise of the Igbo at the reception for the visitors held at Board Room of MARITIME HOUSE, NIMASA at Apapa, Lagos.
The NIMASA boss in his wisdom revealed that the Igbo are a set of people who have greatly supported the President’s Transformation Agenda, and that the Jonathan has equally received maximum cooperation from the said since he was elected.
Akpobolokemi further pointed out that the appointment of Nwabueze as part of the current management of NIMASA was an answer to his prayers, because, according to him, he had asked that an Igbo person be appointed into the management team.
He reiterated that he had made the request for because, according to him, they are roles to the development of the country’s maritime industry.
Akpobolokemi also noted that the appointment of Nwabueze will serve as a bridge that link up the maritime industry (NIMASA) and the Igbo nation in particular.
The NIMASA helmsman stated clearly that the appointment of Nwabueze was one of the best decisions to have been taken by the Jonathan’s administration.
“In this nation, Akpobolokemi said, Igbos are key to the maritime industry due to their present in every sector of the maritime industry”.
He therefore assured the Igbos’ delegation that Nwabueze will get the maximum support from him as well as the entire management and staff of the agency during his tenure.
Leader of the delegation, former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemka Ezeife, had earlier explained that the Igbo came to solicit for the support of Akpobolokemi and that of the management and staff of NIMASA for Nwabueze.
Ezeife said that the Igbo group was also at NIMASA to express the appreciation of the Igbo to Jonathan for appointing Nwabueze into the Executive Management team of NIMASA.
