AMJON 2023 Conference Gathers Top Maritime Leaders for Vital Discussions and Awards Ceremony

The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Mr. Muhammadu Bello-Koko, will be in attendance at the 2023 AMJON Conference and Awards. Other notable participants include key maritime industry stakeholders like the National Inland Waterways Authority, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, and Chief Iju Tony Nwabunike, the Patron of the association.

 

 

 

The AMJON 2023 Conference, scheduled for December 14th at Rockview Hotel Apapa, Lagos, will honour outstanding individuals and key spokespersons from maritime industry agencies. The central theme of this year’s event is “REBUILDING NIGERIA’S ECONOMY TOWARDS VIABLE TRANSBORDER TRADE.”

 

 

 

During the conference, the Comptroller General of Customs is set to open the event, addressing “THE FUTURE AND PROSPECTS OF THE NIGERIA/BENIN CUSTOMS TRANSBORDER TRADE AGREEMENT.” The Nigerian Ports Authority will share insights on “PROVIDING FUNCTIONAL PORTS INFRASTRUCTURE FOR EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE TRANSBORDER TRADE: THE JOURNEY SO FAR,” aiming to educate stakeholders on available port infrastructure.

 

 

 

Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency will present on “PROVIDING ADEQUATE MARITIME SECURITY FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE in NIGERIAN WATERS: THE NIMASA STRATEGY.” National Inland Waterways Authority will discuss “DEVELOPING NIGERIAN WATERWAYS INFRASTRUCTURE FOR EFFECTIVE MOVEMENT OF GOODS AND SERVICES.” The Standards Organisation of Nigeria will address “CURBING INFLUX OF SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS INTO NIGERIA THROUGH INTERNATIONAL ROUTES: THE SON STRATEGY.”

 

 

 

Chief Iju Tony Nwabunike, the Patron of AMJON, will shed light on “THE ROLE OF CUSTOMS BROKERS IN SUSTAINING A VIABLE TRANSBORDER TRADE FOR NATIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH.”

 

 

 

In preparation for the event, AMJON’s President, Paul Ogbuokiri, urged industry stakeholders to participate in what promises to be the biggest maritime media show of the year.

 

 

Innocent Orok, Chairman of the planning committee, emphasized the critical timing of the event in inspiring government agencies to align with their performance commitments, highlighting the importance of sensitizing stakeholders for the country’s economic rebound. The conference will also include awards presentations and the release of a communiqué to conclude the proceedings.
