Aviation Minister Launches Gusau International Airport Construction

Festus Keyamo, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has officially inaugurated the construction of Gusau International Airport. This landmark event highlights a significant achievement in the first year of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in Zamfara State.
The flag-off ceremony, held at the airport site on Kaura Namoda Road in Gusau, saw the attendance of numerous dignitaries, government officials, and community leaders. The project aims to enhance infrastructure, drive economic growth, and improve connectivity within Nigeria and internationally.
Minister Keyamo underscored the project’s regional importance. “Gusau International Airport demonstrates our commitment to advancing the aviation sector and fostering regional development. This airport will enhance transportation, generate jobs, and boost economic activities in Zamfara State and beyond,” he stated.
Governor Lawal expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and highlighted the airport’s transformative potential. “This project is central to our development strategy. It will facilitate trade, attract investment, and significantly contribute to our state’s socio-economic progress. We are dedicated to its completion and appreciate the Minister’s support,” he said.
The airport’s construction is expected to be completed in a few years, featuring state-of-the-art facilities for both passenger and cargo flights. This initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, promoting safer and more efficient air travel.
The ceremony concluded with a groundbreaking event, marking the official start of construction.
