Tropical Depression Sixteen Has Strengthened Into Tropical Storm Nate

According to our further research revealed eyewitness “We’ll be keeping a close eye on two features in the Gulf this weekend. Meteorologist Collin Myers says Tropical Storm Nate will quickly move northwest into the Gulf this weekend, possibly making landfall along the US Gulf Coast as a Hurricane.

“Hurricane Hunters will fly a special mission to better sample the steering currents today, which should give us more confidence in the track forecast. Collin says uncertainty is always high with developing tropical systems, so stay tuned. However, the track does appear to be narrowing in on a Louisiana track, or points farther east, which would keep it well east of Texas.

“Before Nate reaches the Gulf coast, a tropical low now near Florida will blow into southeast Texas this weekend. Collin says this will bring in deeper tropical moisture, and there is now a slight chance of afternoon downpours Saturday and Sunday.

“Our hurricane season typically ends by mid-October as the strong upper level winds that push down cold fronts also shove storms away from Texas. Travis says of the handful of past storms impacting Texas in October, most of them formed in the southwest Gulf. Typically at this time of year, storms that lift north through the Caribbean either keep moving north or turn east toward Florida.
