CICAN consoles Igwe Chidume on loss of kinsman

The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria ( CICAN) has condoled his Royal Highness, Dr Chris Oranu Chidume , Eze Ana-ukwu, the Igwe of Omor Kingdom on the killing of his subject Mr Tagbo Okoye, who was murdered recently by suspected Anaku people for sacrifice to Ekwensu deity, in Ayamelum Local Government Area , Anambra, State.

This facts is contained in a media statement signed by the CICAN Chairman Mr Charles Okonji and the Secretary Mrs Lucy Ekpeyong and made available to the media over the weekend in Lagos.

The statement commended the industrialist who is the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer ( MD/ CEO) of Krisoral Group of Companies, Ogbaru, Anambra State for urging his subjects to toe the pact of peace.

The statement commended the monarch for being a man of peace and law abiding, saying that CICAN is pained by the sad development.

The CICAN’s message stressed that the association shares in the pains of HRH and his people over the unfortunate incident.

The statement urged the men of the Police Force to fishout the culprits with a view of ensuring that the criminals are not allowed to go scot-free.

According to the statement, ” CICAN as a group is pained about the killing of Mr Tagbo Okoye who was mowed down in his prime. We shared in the pains of His Royal Highness Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume, Eze Ana-ukwu, the Igwe of Omor Kingdom, his Council of Chiefs and the good people of Omor kingdom.

“We call on the men of the Police Force to ensure justice is done in the case. We appeal to the family of late Tagbo Okoye to take heart and remain peaceful and law abiding, while the government and the police do the needful.

” The Association hereby appeal to the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his government to put a stop to the constant killing of the people of Omor Kingdom for the sacrifice to the Ekwensi deity by the people of Anaku community,” the statement read.

The statement commended the youths of Omor Kingdom and the leadership of the community for heeding the plea of Chidume to be peaceful, adding that is only way their community can develop.

The statement urged Anambra State government and the Police Force to ensure the case is speedily settled to allow law abiding indigenes of both communities go about their daily activities without fear for their lives .

The statement concluded by calling ling on Nigerians to respect the sanctity of lives and shun archaic practices that leads to killing of innocent lives.

It would be recalls that Igwe Chris Oranu is a major stakeholder in the country’s Real sector, employing thousands of Nigerians in his various manufacturing companies scattered in Anambra State, Lagos State and other parts of Nigeria.
