An activist, Olu Omotayo has urged office holders to learn from the resignation of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Muhammad Tanko.

68-year-old Muhammad resigned on Monday due to ill health.

Omotayo noted that knowing when to quit was an act that should be emulated.

“It is a good development and truly the first time in history in Africa”, the Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network President told NAN.

“It is rare in this part of the world to see someone resign voluntarily from an exalted position,” he added.

Omotayo hailed Justice Muhammad for acting in the interest of the judiciary and the nation.

He urged Nigerians to put health first before any other material or position considerations.

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola is the new CJN, head of the Supreme Court and the National Judicial Council (NJC).
