Dangote Cement Invested About N1.4bn in Social Projects to improve host communities life expectancy

We understand that governments alone cannot meet the needs of our local communities. As a major stakeholder, we remain committed to supporting the development of social amenities.

In other to improve life expectancy of the people in host communities, Dangote Cement said to have invested approximately N1.4billion of social investment in the construction of roads, schools, hospitals and several others, including public utilities in the effort to close some of the infrastructural gaps.

 

In the report excerpts from the recent annual reports of the company saying Some of our flagship projects include: the Dangote Skills Development Centre at Lokoja and at Obajana, our host community, over 249 students benefited from a N25million scholarships grant, among other social investments, Cottage hospital at Mbayon in Gboko with scholarship grants worth N10million were awarded to 493 students within the community, and at Ibese, a block of classrooms was constructed in Aga-Olowo for 80 students and we provided scholarships to benefit 400 local students.

 

The report contained a forward looking statement of “We are developing ‘A Community Engagement Plan’ that is consistent with global best practices and in alignment with communities needs.

 

“Our social impact projects are deliberately designed targeting at meeting the most pressing needs of the different host communities around our plants, in line with the outcome of our community engagement programmes.”

 

“These investments covered healthcare, education and infrastructure developments, among others including a fruit and vegetables processing training programmes specially designed for women. As you know, the capacity building initiative will help agrarian women in the poor community to develop new skills in how to preserve and stores their fruit and vegetable products.
