The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a statement to address recent misconceptions regarding its dealings with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), clarifying that it has not received any payments from IPMAN for the purchase of refined petroleum products.
While discussions between the Dangote Refinery and IPMAN are ongoing, the refinery emphasized that it currently has no direct business relationship with IPMAN. Reports suggesting that IPMAN members are facing difficulties loading refined products from the Dangote Refinery are therefore misleading, as no such transactions have been arranged. Payments referenced by IPMAN were made through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), not the Dangote Refinery, and the NNPCL has not authorized the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN through Dangote.
The Dangote Refinery highlighted its capability to meet Nigeria’s petroleum needs, with the ability to load up to 2,900 trucks per day and actively distributing products by sea. IPMAN members are encouraged to register directly with the refinery and make direct payments to secure a steady supply of petroleum products.
In a bid to foster constructive dialogue, the Dangote Refinery urged stakeholders to avoid making speculative statements in the media, which it argued could undermine the economic policies championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “Conducting business through public speculation is counterproductive and unpatriotic,” the refinery stated.
In closing, the Dangote Refinery called on stakeholders to support President Tinubu’s vision by working collaboratively to strengthen Nigeria’s petroleum sector, setting aside media conflicts and unfounded claims in favor of a unified approach.
