The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh OFR, embarked on a productive working visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E I Ogala. The primary objective was to enhance collaboration between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy, with a keen focus on advancing the Nigerian Maritime industry.

 

During their meeting, both leaders delved into discussions aimed at solidifying the partnership to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s vision of establishing the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry. The emphasis was on expedited actions to achieve this vision for the collective benefit of the nation.

 

One of the crucial issues addressed was the challenge of illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. Dr. Jamoh and Vice Admiral Ogala strategized on innovative approaches to combat this issue effectively, ensuring that Nigerians reap the full benefits of the abundant natural resources in the maritime industry.

 

This collaborative effort between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy marks a significant step toward safeguarding the maritime sector, fostering sustainable practices, and contributing to the realization of President Tinubu’s vision for a robust Marine and Blue Economy Ministry.
