FAAN MD Initiates Task Force to Eradicate Airport Harassment and Touting

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has launched a dedicated task force aimed at eliminating touting, extortion, and other illicit activities at Nigerian airports.

In a recent interview, Mrs. Kuku expressed her deep concern over the ongoing harassment and extortion faced by passengers, emphasizing her commitment to ensuring a seamless and pleasant travel experience. To combat these issues, her administration has embarked on an extensive campaign targeting illegal activities at the airports.

The task force, led by Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Special Duties at FAAN, will spearhead this initiative. Mrs. Kuku also plans to engage directly with all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure strict adherence to anti-touting and anti-extortion measures.

Mrs. Kuku warned all airport personnel, including FAAN staff, that strict disciplinary actions would be enforced against anyone involved in illicit practices. She stressed the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, declaring an end to the era of “business as usual.”

In addition, Mrs. Kuku announced plans to establish magistrate courts at international airports to expedite the prosecution of offenders. The task force is mandated to enforce discipline among airport staff and promote a culture of professionalism at all levels.
