The Super Falcons are scheduled to be paid their entitlements on Friday.

The team defeated hosts Cameroon 1-0 in the final of the 2016  African Women’s  Cup of Nations  in Yaounde on December 3 to win the title for the eighth  time.

However, the players  were not paid their  allowances, a development which forced them to embark on   a sit-in protest  in their Abuja hotel.

However, the team marched on the  National Assembly and the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday to press home their demands.

The protest was planned to coincide with the appearance of President Muhammadu Buhari who was scheduled to present the 2017 budget to the National Assembly.

The Chief of Staff to President, Abba Kyari,  later told State House correspondents that Buhari had ordered the finance ministry to pay the players latest by Thursday.

However, our correspondent learnt that the players could not receive their money on Thursday as the ministries of finance and the sports, as well as the Nigeria Football Federation had to work on files.

Spokesman for the NFF Ademola Olajire told our correspondent that the players would be paid today.
