FBNQuest received the ‘Equity Fund of the Year’ and ‘Bond Fund of the Year’ awards, while Meristem received the Stockbroker of the Year award.

The Managing Director, FBNQuest Asset Management, Ike Onyia, said the awards were an incredible honour.

He said, “They are an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of the teams, and an affirmation that we are on course as we continue to focus on the opportunities to innovate and change the game.

“The FBN Nigeria Smart Beta Equity Fund was the first-of-its-kind in the market. To be recognised for a job well done is proof that we are making a difference, and our clients are satisfied with the value we deliver.”

The Managing Director, Meristem Stockbrokers Limited, Saheed Bashir, described the award as a confirmation of the company’s dedication and service to its clients.

He said it was a proof of the fact that the company had been consistent in what they do and that they were doing well.

Bashir said, “This is the second industry award in less than two months. By beating other nominees to emerge winner in the category, I attribute this to the company’s consistent push for financial inclusion, innovative solutions, consumer satisfaction as a core value and creation of wealth for our clients in the brokerage industry.

“We are honoured with this award and we appreciate the organiser for this recognition. This award really means a lot for us as a firm. We will not rest on our oars as we believe this is just a call for us to do better.”

The Chief Executive Officer, BusinessDay Media Limited, Frank Aigbogun, stated that the Nigerian banking and financial industry had been characterised by intense competition demonstrated through innovative products and services.

He said there was also a cautious approach to investment as well as expansion in the retail and mobile segments.

Aigbogun stated that the parameters for choosing the winners in each of the award categories were share price performance, returns on average investment, returns on average equity, volume and value of transaction, governance, among others.

“This award is to honour and celebrate companies, managing directors and chief executive officers of notable firms in the financial industry that have made excellence and quality service delivery the centre stage of their operations,” he said.
