The frequency of fire arms mishandling among the Nigeria Customs Service NCS officers both inside and at border has generated enough evidence that classified the custom service offices as not matured enough to handle fire arms as it related to civilians instead armed rubbers.

The border drill at Jigawa Community has led to shot two people over their attempt to obstruct their operation in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In the law court, an attempt to obstruct is not yet a case that led armed service personnel to used fire arms on unarmed civilians or community.

Police Spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.

He said the incident happened on Saturday evening at Gidan Lage village when angry youths attempted to prevent the joint border patrol team from conducting the operation in the area.

He said during the operations, many bags of foreign rice were recovered.

Shiisu explained that youths from the village had gathered and attempted to stop the officers from conducting the operation.

He explained that as a result the officers fired some bullets at the protesters and two people were shot and sustained injuries.

Shiisu said police rushed to the scene of the crime and conveyed the victims to Gabasawa hospital in Kano State for medical attention.

This is coming days after the customs officers on border drill along Niger/Nigeria border caused a gas explosion that destroyed houses, and shops and injured many in Babura Local Government.
