Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to the upliftment of women’s lives by inaugurating the Women ICT Training Empowerment Programme. The program, organized by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), aims to provide women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with a comprehensive 5-day training in the field of Information and Communication Technology.
The event was launched amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and hope, with Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, the Senior Special Adviser on Policy, Strategy, and Logistics, representing the First Lady at the inauguration. He stressed the pivotal role that digital literacy plays in today’s world and urged the attending women to seize the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in this field. Alawiye-King highlighted how Information Technology can serve as a catalyst for economic growth and empowerment, emphasizing its potential to offer comprehensive solutions for various challenges.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Aristotle Onyemaechi, the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy at NITDA, shared his organization’s aspiration to bolster the digital literacy of Nigeria’s youth as a means to foster economic development. He recognized the pivotal role that women play in this process and expressed optimism that the participants of the training would emerge as ambassadors of both RHI and digital literacy in Nigeria.
