FMDQ Group Unveils FMDQ Green Exchange November 8

The FMDQ Group is set to host the Official Launch Ceremony of the FMDQ Green Exchange on Monday, November 8, 2021, as a critical step towards maximising the potential of Nigeria’s budding green and sustainable finance markets.

The statement noted that the in demonstration of FMDQ Holdings PLC’s (“FMDQ Group” or “FMDQ”) strong commitment to its five (5) Sustainability Pillars – Business, Markets, People, Community and Environment; in cognisance of the need for Nigeria to continuously stay at the forefront of the global sustainable finance drive; and in alignment with its drive to promote sustainable finance in the Nigerian financial markets, FMDQ Group, through FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited, will be the first financial market infrastructure group in Africa to introduce a platform specifically for green and sustainable securities – FMDQ Green Exchange – with the slogan “Leading the Transition to a Sustainable Future”.

FMDQ Green Exchange (the “Green Exchange”) will be a virtual information repository platform dedicated to driving the growth of green and sustainable securities and providing reliable green data in the Nigerian financial markets, through promoting transparency, good governance, and compliance, by showcasing securities issuances that align with global Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) principles. The Green Exchange will highlight capital flow into investments that will enhance ESG-related principles, showcasing ESG-compliant issuers and securities in the Nigerian financial markets for investment decision considerations with respect to specific ESG requirements. The platform will also serve as a resource tool for ESG-related data and information for issuers (existing and potential) to aid knowledge acquisition and other activities within the green and sustainable finance markets space.

In other to commemorate this significant milestone, FMDQ Group is set to host the Official Launch Ceremony of the FMDQ Green Exchange on Monday, November 8, 2021, as a critical step towards maximising the potential of Nigeria’s budding green and sustainable finance markets.
