……..Ensuring a functional industrial sector is a prelude to economic growth and development.
The Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamahhas disclosed federal government to revive many of the moribund industrial clusters across the country.
Enelamah gave this disclosure at the gathering in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
The minister stated that the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is currently in the process of resuscitating 23 industrial clusters in the country.
Enelamah, who is also Director-General of SMEDAN, said the initiative is targeted at improving the businesses of entrepreneurs across the country, and to also improve the Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
In recent past, many of the booming industrial clusters/estates of the 1990s in the country are now occupied by religious organisations, due to poor industrial policies, poor infrastructural facilities, high inputs cost, energy problem among others.
The SMEDAN was established to promote the development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector of the nation’s economy.
