The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has called on traditional rulers in Zuru kingdom to partner with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to defeat banditry in the area.

The Army Chief made the call through Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, when he paid a courtesy visit to Zuru Emir,
His Royal Highness, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd).

Nwachukwu also commended the Royal father for his support to troops.

In his response, Sami assured the Army boss of his continuous support to restore normalcy in his domain.

However, Nwachukwu, who represented the Army Chief, commissioned 12 blocks of self contained accommodation for soldiers and their families at 223 Battalion, Dakkarawa Barracks, Zuru in Kebbi State.

He commissioned the project while continuing his operational tour of 8 Division Area of Responsibility in the North West.

He promised to provide requisite infrastructural development that will enhance the welfare of troops and their families in the barracks.

Nwachukwu noted that his visit was also to assess the current security situation and troops’ readiness, as well as obtain first hand information on the state of infrastructure in the barracks.
