Kaduna Electric will not get a return on an asset in its tariff for failing to produce a 500kva electricity transformer to a Southern Kaduna community which contributed N2 million to the company six months ago, The Sun reports.
The verdict was conveyed to the distribution company by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) after it intervened following protests by youths of Badarawa Community in the South of Kaduna over the contribution of N2 miillion to purchase a transformer which had not been connected to the Kaduna Electric network.
NERC said that such an agreement was in clear violation of the Commission’s regulation which makes installation of facilities the Disco’s responsibility. It said the purchased transformer would be connected to provide electricity to the community and reflected in Kaduna Electric’s Regulated Asset Base implying that Kaduna Electric would not get a return on the asset in their tariff.
