Southern indigence of Kaduna State under the aegis of Arewa Youth Movement for Good Governance (AYMGG) had complained to the State Government and other relevant authorities to come to their aid and save them from the discharge of harmful toxic wastes into the environment by the brewing company.
Speaking to newsmen after the inspection, the General Manager of KEPA, Lawal Jibrin, on Thursday, 4 April, 2019 said that nothing going on at the brewery is harmful.
“As far as we are concerned, we went round and there is no threat to life. We have gone to the discharge point and taken samples, we have gone to take samples, no nuisance to environment,” he said.
KEPA GM added that from all indications, what is needed is a political solution to the issue, since the complainants have remained faceless.
“We are looking at the issue as political and we intend to invite all the parties to a sit down to deliberate on how to resolve the matter amicably.
“What we have seen from the water discharged to the community is that fish can survive in them, in pond using same water which means that it can’t harm life. We have moved round the community and what we have seen is that nothing from the plant constitutes any nuisance,” he stressed.
He therefore, called on the complainants to come forward and make claims if any exists.
