On September 4, 2024, at 13:30 hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly to distress calls via the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines, deploying its Response Team from Cappa Base.
Incident Summary:
Upon arrival at 2nd Rainbow, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, LASEMA’s Light Rescue Team (LRT) discovered a burnt Toyota Sienna, which was blocking the road and hindering traffic flow. The vehicle’s registration number remains unknown.
Casualty Report:
Remarkably, there were no casualties or injuries reported as a result of this incident.
Action Taken:
The LASEMA Response Team promptly implemented Safety and Traffic Control measures to ensure the safety of responders and manage traffic. Utilizing sophisticated heavy-duty equipment, including the Hiab crane, the team conducted a swift and safe recovery operation. This efficiency has sparked discussions among experts about whether LASEMA is taking over some functions traditionally managed by the National Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

Operation Status:
The burnt vehicle has been successfully removed from the road and transported to LASTMA’s yard at Oshodi. The recovery operation is now concluded, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
