The Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN) Expo 2024, themed “Rethinking Manufacturing,” commenced on July 2nd and concluded on July 4th, 2024. The event, held at Aso Villa in Abuja, provided a platform for industry leaders to discuss and strategize on enhancing Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.

During the expo, Mrs. Nkechi Obi (OON), the Group Managing Director of Techno Oil Limited, highlighted the adverse effects of proposed fiscal policies on LPG Metal Cylinder Manufacturers. She spoke passionately during a tour of top government officials at the Techno Oil Exhibition Booth, emphasizing the market distortions these policies would cause.

Notable attendees included Mrs. Caroline Niagwan, Deputy Comptroller General (Tariff & Trade) of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS); Comptroller Babatunde Olomu of Apapa Command, NCS; Prof. Ayo Omotayo, Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS); a representative of the Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and other top officials from MAN.

The discussions centered on the challenges facing the manufacturing sector in Nigeria, particularly regarding regulatory frameworks and policy impacts. Mrs. Nkechi Obi’s insights underscored the urgent need for supportive policies that promote growth and sustainability within the industry.

The MAN Expo 2024 concluded with a commitment from stakeholders to collaborate closely with policymakers to address these challenges and ensure a conducive environment for manufacturing in Nigeria.
