Maritime Stakeholders shower encomiums on NSC’s Leadership Achievements

Stakeholders at the Nigerian maritime sector applauded the leadership of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) over its impacts in the sector.


They made the comments during the 2018 NSC stakeholders’ appreciation night in Lagos.


Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the NSC Board Chairman Malam Mala Buni who were represented at the event commended the Executive Secretary/ CEO of NSC, Mr Haasan Bello for his turn around policies at the ports.


However, the President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Mr Mansur Ahmed, said there was need for government and the NSC to improve the condition of the ports.


According to him, the facilities in the maritime sector needed attention of the government otherwise the nation would continue to lose revenue.


Former Minister of Information and CEO of NSC, Chief Dapo Sarumi who commended Hassan said the present leadership of the council had made him proud.


He thanked minister of Transportation for identify Hasan as a talent to steer the leadership of NSC.


Princess Vicky Haastrup, the Executive Vice Chairman of ENL Consortium Limited praised the council for its collaboration with terminal operators


She pledged the cooperation of sea port terminal operators of Nigeria with the council saying both parties were partners in progress.

“We are ready to work with the NSC council for good because Malam Hassan meant well for us through his actions.


Speaking, the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety and Agency (NIMASA), Dr Peterside Dakuku said the council has made shipping operations seamless at the port.


According to NSC has shown leadership that was worth emulating.


Also Director General of National Inland Water-Ways Authority (NIWA), Senator Olorunibe Mamora praised the council for determination to improve trade regulation at the port.


He however said NIWA was ready to make the water ways available as an alternative transportation system in the marine sector.
