According to a press statement that was seen by Nairametrics, MDXi will launch the Stack platform in collaboration with Microsoft and HPE.

The service will officially be unveiled during MainOne’s 5th annual Nerds Unite event which is scheduled to take place sometime later in the year. Nerds Unite is a gathering of customers, partners, and tech professionals which is organised by the IT company.

Note that if everything goes as planned, MDXi will become the first Nigerian data centre to offer the Microsoft Azure Stack services on a commercial basis.

MainOne claimed that this development would enable it to consolidate its leadership position in the Nigerian cloud market.

With the Microsoft Azure platform, MDXi will be able to offer wide-ranging services such as a broader suite of cloud solutions.

There will also be managed cloud deployment on public and private cloud services in the MDXi data centre, to be used for the management of offshore deployment on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure. In addition, MDXi will be able to offer Express Route services that guarantee secure and reliable communications to cloud services offshore. Also, note that the new cloud services platform will offer companies the choice of a scalable and flexible computing platform which will enable them to migrate critical applications from legacy technology to modernised and more efficient technology without having to go offshore.

While commenting on this partnership, the General Manager of MDXi, Gbenga Adegbiji said:

“MDXi has been in the business of providing Cloud services to its Enterprise customers for over 5 years, with skilled and certified engineers. We are the data center of choice for Enterprise looking to host data locally in the Cloud. With the introduction of the Azure Stack solution, we further demonstrate our commitment to investing in cloud infrastructure in order to continually meet the changing and growing requirements of our customers in Nigeria, and indeed across West Africa. Our partnership with Microsoft and investment in HPE infrastructure to deploy the Cloud platform continues to position MDXi as West Africa’s leading communications solution provider, delivering world-class quality services to our local customers.”
