NAICOM Hosts NIA Governing Council, Emphasizes Collaboration for Insurance Sector Advancement

The Commissioner for Insurance/CEO, Mr. Segun Ayo Omosehin, along with his Management team, warmly received members of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) at the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM). The visit was led by the incoming Chairman, Mr. Kunle Ahmed, and aimed to foster collaboration and discuss key initiatives to enhance the insurance sector.

During the meeting, Mr. Kunle Ahmed, the incoming Chairman of NIA, conveyed congratulations to the recently appointed Executive Management of NAICOM. He expressed gratitude to the Commission for its pivotal role in maintaining fairness and stability within the insurance sector. Mr. Ahmed underscored the importance of implementing the ten-year strategic plan and finalizing the consolidated insurance bill. He also conveyed his confidence in the new Executive’s ability to elevate the insurance sector to new heights.

The NIA delegation received a comprehensive briefing on NAICOM’s ongoing review of its strategic plan to ensure alignment with the Nigerian Insurance Industry’s ten-year strategic plan. This strategic alignment aims to foster synergy and coherence within the insurance industry, driving sustainable growth and development.

In response, the Commissioner for Insurance (CFI) reiterated the commitment of NAICOM to collaborate closely with the NIA. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding consumer rights, particularly through the prompt settlement of genuine claims. The CFI affirmed the Executive Management’s ambition to drive growth and innovation in the Nigerian Insurance Market, ensuring its competitiveness on both regional and global scales.

The meeting served as a testament to the collaborative spirit between NAICOM and NIA, highlighting a shared dedication to advancing the insurance sector and protecting the interests of consumers.
