The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) is liaising wth the Body of Banks CEOs to address the current challenges. Assuch, the banks would continue to remain open to serve the public as long as it is safe to do so.
In a press statement sent toThe Ameh News (TAN) which was endorsed by  Dr Ken Opara, Presdent/Chairman of Council, CIBN says the safety and security of staff of banks is of paramount importance.
Hence, he added that where there is security challenge, the Management of banks have been empowered to take proactive measures to cose theiroperations in such location and inform the Central Bank of Nigeria.Therefore, the safety concernsbeing expressed in various quarters are alreadybeing addressed.
CIBN Boss assured general publice that banks will continue to ensure that adequate security are n place to protect staff and customers whilst safeguarding theirassets in contending with the current challenge.
Consequently, he therefore said we appeal to the general public to remaincalm and eschew any act of violence as the banking industry remainresolute and committed to findng ways to address all the related issues. Weindeed appreciate your continued patence and understanding as we work together towards restoring normalcy, he added.
