In a significant and heartfelt visit, Hajia Bolaji Mustapha, the newly appointed President of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), visited Ikechi Uko, a distinguished Board of Trustee (BOT) member of the Association. This meeting marked an important milestone in their long-standing professional relationship and friendship.

Ikechi Uko has known Bolaji Mustapha for many years, tracing back to her time as the Tour Manager of TouchDown Travels, then Nigeria’s largest travel agency. In the early 2000s, Bolaji was a prominent promoter of Dubai as a travel destination, earning her the affectionate nickname “Dubai Babe” due to her specialization in Hajj and Dubai tourism.

Bolaji’s career took a pivotal turn when she established her own travel agency, GETS Centre. She began organizing extensive domestic tours every December for her friends and family, showcasing the beauty of Nigeria. These tours not only promoted domestic tourism but also endeared her to many, including Ikechi Uko. Her unwavering commitment to NATOP and the cause of tour operations in Nigeria has been exemplary.

As a staunch member of NATOP, Bolaji has remained dedicated to the organization’s mission. Her transition from Vice President to President is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for the industry. Her leadership promises to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to NATOP.

During her visit to Ikechi Uko’s office, they reminisced about past experiences and discussed future plans for the Association. A photograph from this memorable meeting, taken in Ikechi Uko’s inner office adorned with a wall poster of Mount Kilimanjaro and totems, symbolizes the dawn of a new era for NATOP under Bolaji’s capable leadership.

Congratulations, Bolaji Mustapha, on your well-deserved appointment. Your journey and achievements continue to inspire and uplift the entire tourism industry in Nigeria.
