The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and adherence to anti-corruption laws and regulations in the statement signed by BASHIR A. NUHU, The Head, Public and Communications Department of the Corporation. According to him NDIC proudly secures the top rank in the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) 2023 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS).
He continues, this remarkable accomplishment marks the second occasion that the corporation has clinched the prestigious first place, following its previous top ranking in the 2021 EICS.
In his words: the ICPC’s Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) is an annual evaluation tool designed to assess the adherence of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria to institutional ethics and integrity requirements. The assessment encompasses the measurement and monitoring of key performance indicators in categories such as Management Culture and Structure, Financial Management Systems, and Administrative Systems, he stressed.
“In the 2023 EICS, conducted between March and July 2023, involving 404 MDAs, the NDIC excelled with an impressive score of 91.30%.
NUHU noted that the EICS report underscores the ICPC’s dedication to curbing abuse of office and corruption by promoting ethics and integrity standards within government agencies, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of public service delivery.
NDIC’s consistent top ranking is a testament to its unyielding zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and its dedication to benchmarking its operations against international best practices, he added.
Notably, he revealed that the Corporation earned three ISO Certifications in September of this year, following a rigorous audit by MSECB, a renowned international provider of Audit and Certification services.
According to him these achievements have been made possible through the Corporation’s effective and ethical operational procedures, aimed at promoting transparency and accountability.
“NDIC’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) played a pivotal role in this process, closely collaborating with the ICPC. Their collaboration involved sensitizing NDIC staff, identifying and enhancing internal controls to prevent fraudulent practices, and ensuring strict compliance with established policies and procedures by the Corporation’s management.
He reiterated that the NDIC’s outstanding performance in the 2023 ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and serving as an exemplar of integrity within the Public Service. The Corporation remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of deposits and contributing to the stability of the financial system, he concluded.
