The Nestlé Nigeria plc in collaborations with Lagos Business School (LBS) urged journalists to improve their reportage through solutions journalism on nutrition, health and environment.

The training which was held via online had the theme: “Advancing Nutrition Health and Environmental Awareness through the Media.”

Mr Wassim Elhusseini, the Managing Director, Nestlé Nigeria, lauded the journalists for their participation and tasked them on an improved reportage on solutions journalism.

This suggestions came during the grand- finale of the 2022 Media Training for Journalists today in Lagos.

Elhusseini said it is our pleasure to welcome you to the conclusion of the Nestlé/LBS Advancing Nutrition Health and Environmental Awareness through the Media Training.

“As an organisation we are mindful of protecting our environment for future generations.

According to him, the training is organised to enhance the capacity of the media to play the lead role in awareness creation in nutrition, health and the environment.

“As we come face to face with the impacts of climate change, it is better we have all hands on deck to tackle its effects, “he said.

Continuing, the Nestlé boss said: “Your reports and stories can help to increase awareness about protecting the environment, nutrition and health adding that how our actions can make a difference.

“In addition to providing you with up-to-date information on nutrition and the environment and the solution we are deploying to combat climate change, the programme also aims to build on your foundational knowledge.

“We trust that all you have learned about solutions journalism writing, research, data analysis, reporting, will set you apart and provide you with more opportunity.

Elhusseini reiterated that we are delighted with the feedback we have received about how the training has helped to improve your journalistic skill.

On his part, Prof Chris Ogbechie, the Dean of Lagos Business School and former journalist urged the media to be at the forefront in reporting using solutions journalism tact’s and awareness creation. He added that the solutions journalism tact’s involves a lot of works in gathering the data but it worth doing repeatedly for mastering.

“This training is necessary because the media has the power to shape the future through writing. The media can tell compelling stories that will shape the way companies invest and run their businesses.

“Nestlé has invested in this programme to equip journalists in Advancing Nutrition Health and Environmental Awareness through the Media.

“This certification is a call for journalists to write stories that positively influence action,” Ogbechie said.

The high point of the programme was the presentation of certificates of attendance to the participants.
