Fire at Nigerian Breweries Factory Iganmu, Lagos

Black early Sunday morning at Abebe Nigerian Breweries factory, Iganmu area, Lagos  when fire gutted the breweries building from pallets section

 Th eyes witness informed that the fire engulfed the pallet section of the brewery burning several numbers of pallets and crates.

According to the investigation carried out by the Agency’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) at the incident scene, the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as at time of reporting.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said they responded to the distress call immediately information filtered down to them.

The combined effort of the agency’s ERT along with fire service team from the Lagos Fire Services, Julius Berger and the Nigerian Red Cross however curtailed inferno.

This prompt intervention of emergency responders helped to salvage nearby warehouses which are located opposite the fence and other buildings around the complex.

LASEMA General Manager, Adesina Tiamiyu, who also confirmed this said no casuaty was recorded in the incident but large numbers of goods estimated millions Naira were destroyed.

While the management of Nigerian Breweries has said that no life was lost in the fire that gutted the company on Christmas Day.

In a statement issued on Sunday by its Corporate Affairs Adviser, Kufre Ekanem, said the inferno affected some sections of the bottle holding bay, including empty bottles and plastic crates.

Ekanen said,” There was a fire outbreak today at the empty bottle compound of the Lagos plant of Nigerian Breweries Plc in Iganmu, Lagos.

“The fire, which started early in the morning, has been put under control by men of the Lagos State Fire Service supported by the Brewery fire team and other nearby corporate organisations.
