The Nigeria Customs reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering the production and exportation of Hibiscus flowers in Jigawa State. The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana, expressed this support during the official commissioning of the COMTTRA JIGAWA Hibiscus processing company by Governor Umar Namadi at the Magatari Border Free Zone in Jigawa state.
Comptroller Chana on Tuesday, 27 February 2024, pledged full backing for the project, emphasizing the dedication of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to promoting exports, maintaining trade balance, and safeguarding national revenue and security.
“As a service, I wish to reiterate our commitment to support this laudable initiative and at the same time pledge our maximum co-operation for the effective take-off of this wonderful programme,” he stated.
In his remarks, Chana commended Governor Namadi for his efforts and underscored the importance of the hibiscus plant in enhancing value addition, stimulating exports, and creating job opportunities.
Governor Umar Namadi of Bauchi State, in collaboration with Jigawa State, outlined the partnership’s objectives, which include establishing a cutting-edge Fumigation Chamber and a state-of-the-art cleaning and processing facility dedicated to hibiscus flowers. Operating under the brand name “Comttra Jigawa,” these facilities aim to optimize production processes and elevate quality standards in the industry. This collaborative effort seeks to position Jigawa State as a leading hub for hibiscus production and exportation, contributing to economic growth and development in the region.
