Northern States Should Support Kano Trade Fair through Effective Participation Says NPA MD

The Nigerian Ports Authority, Managing Director, Mallam Habib Abdullahi called Northern States both government and individual to support the Kano Chamber of Commerce during forthcoming Kano Trade Fair, by ensuring their full participation in all fairs organised by the chamber.

Abdullahi also pointed out that the fair is an effective avenue for the Northern States to showcase their potentials and attract investors to their states in various spheres of business endeavours.

The Managing Director said this while receiving in Lagos yesterday, the executive members of the Kano chamber of Commerce on a courtesy visit to his office. Abdullahi reiterated that the annual Kano Trade Fair should serve as a mobilising forum for all the Northern States.

He stressed further that the organisers of the fair should impress on participants to change their orientation of participation from exhibition to displaying their potentials, so as to attract investors.

NPA Boss assured the organiser that the Authority would only not ensure the full participation in the 34th edition of the fair this year as a corporate partner but would also support the organisation of the fair to ensure its overall success.

Abdullahi applauded the previous fairs hosted by the Chamber, while urged the organisers to strive to maintain the standard, so as to achieve the desired result.

He admonished the plan by the Chamber to introduce innovations that are aimed at accommodating the changes in the national and world economy

“The Authority will also partner with the Chamber by recommending and sending resource persons from the organisation that will facilitate at the commerce week that will be held during the trade fair.”

Abdullahi equally challenged Chambers of Commerce in other landlocked areas to emulate what the Kano Chamber of Commerce is doing so that the whole economy will experience the desired growth.

Earlier, the President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce Alhaji Farouk Rabiu had told the Managing Director that the Chamber was pleased with the participation of the Authority in previous fairs hosted by the Chamber.

Rabiu has disclosed of the innovations, which the Chamber has introduced to the forthcoming edition of Kano Trade Fair adding that it will expose participants to new business opportunities through training, seminars and workshops on commerce and investments.

He further informed the Managing Director that the NPA has been selected as a Corporate Partner for the hosting of the fair this year, considering its records of performance in previous outings at the fair. The president   presented an Award for Excellence to the Managing Director on behalf of the Kano chamber of commerce.

“The innovations are aimed at attracting embassies, international organisations which if done well will go a long way to demonstrate that the security challenge of the state has been improved because of the good works of the government to improve the security situation in the state.”

According to the press statement released by Musa Iliya, Asst. General Manager, Public Affairs For: General Manager, Public Affairs said that the President of the Chamber of Commerce was accompanied by the  Hon. Treasurer of the Chamber Uba T. Miiinyawa (Dan Zainab), the Chairman distributive, Trade and Allied Group Babangida Lamido and the national Vice President Nigerian Association of chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture.

Also present at the meeting on the side of NPA were the Executive Director Engineering and Technical Services, Alhaji Mohammed Saleh and SA to Managing Director Buhari Abdullahi.
