The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman said our successful Electronic Payment System (e-PS) and the Electronic Ship Entry Notice (e-SEN) that was launched in 2014 was a first step towards full automation of the Authority’s processes, the platforms are also fully integrated with the Authority’s existing solutions such as Oracle financials, Oracle Human Capital Management, Paydirect via interswitch, Revenue Invoicing Management System (RIMS) and Customer Portal which has jointly integrated the electronic flow of information for business –to –business streams.
The Managing Director indicated this in Lagos at the weekend, while declaring open the “NPA Special Day” at the on-going Lagos International Trade Fair, considering the role of the Authority in promoting trade, especially in the area of promoting the potentials of the industrial sector and enhancing opportunities for small and medium scale enterprises (SMSEs) in Nigeria, the NPA has remained resolute in its drive to ensure that the ports remain safe, secure and customer friendly, while delivering efficient port services.
Managing director who was represented at the Fair by Alhaji Abubakar Umar, the Port Manager, Rivers Ports saying “That why Nigerian Ports Authority has continued to facilitate and support the Federal Government Policy on the “Ease of Doing Business” that was designed to improve and efficiency in port operations as well as giving value to stakeholders.”
Ms Usman disclosed that as a further boast to our efficiency and achieves our international recognition to our seaports as a maritime nation; the Authority has started aggressive efforts aim at attaining the ISO 9001 complaints and certification.
She expressed the strong optimism that the attainment of the ISO 9001 certification will improve the financial performance of the Authority; ensure quick turnaround time, improved traffic and business process in the ports.
In earlier welcome address by the President Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) informed the Team NPA and other stakeholders gathered that the chamber which was founded in 1888 is the “premier as well as the oldest chamber of commerce in Nigeria”
The President who was represented by the Deputy President Toki Mabogunje, said, the primary objective was to promote support legislature or other policies affecting trade Industry, Commerce and Agriculture as well as represent the opinion of the business community on this matter and the economy as a whole.
The LCCI Boss further stressed that the 2018 Fair with the theme “Connecting Businesses, Creating Value” could go a long way at promoting synergy by players in the public and private sectors for a mutual benefit adding that the present day business would desires connectivity in businesses, link industries and integrate processes to accelerate economic growth and development.
He lauded the NPA Management for the several accomplishments aimed at repositioning the sector for improved quality service delivery through an efficient port system.
