Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) pose a significant threat to health, encompassing conditions like coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease. Recognizing the global impact of CVDs, the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp) recently organized an informative online seminar.

Titled “Understanding Your Cholesterol Levels: Insights into Cardiovascular Health,” the seminar aimed to educate pension industry professionals about the risks associated with CVDs. The event featured experts like Mr. Oguche Agudah, PenOp’s Chief Executive Director, and Dr. Udofia Akanimo, a seasoned physician.

 

Participants learned about the implications of conditions like hypertension and dyslipidemia, which can significantly increase the risk of CVDs. The session underscored the importance of regular medical check-ups, stress management, and awareness of the Nigerian emergency number (112) for life-saving situations.

 

Preventing hypertension and dyslipidemia involves lifestyle changes, medication, and a balanced diet. The seminar provided a wealth of information for industry professionals and was part of PenOp’s ongoing knowledge-sharing series.
