Director General Aisha Dahir-Umar highlighted the positive impact of PenCom’s proactive regulatory approach, which led to increased pension assets, rising from N14.99 trillion in December 2022 to N16.76 trillion at the end of June 2023. The number of pension scheme members also grew, reaching over 10 million contributors by June 2023.
DG was highly represented at the event by Abdulqadir Dahiru, the Head, Corporate communications department of Pencom stated this during the ongoing 2023 Journalists’ Conference organized by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) at Zen Garden in Ikeja, Lagos on August 3, 2023. Dahir-Umar continue in delivering speech emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to enhancing knowledge and understanding of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) among journalists covering pension matters.
“The theme of this year’s conference, “Transforming Service Delivery in the Pension Industry: Strategies for Improving Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction,” underscored PenCom’s dedication to continuously improving service standards and ensuring a positive experience for contributors and retirees.
“Three informative papers were presented during the conference. The first paper, “Enhancing Customer Service in the Pension Industry: PenCom’s New Strategic Plan,” highlighted the Commission’s latest initiatives aimed at elevating customer service and providing better care for Retirement Savings Account holders through the newly established Consumer Protection Department (CPD).
“The second paper, “Strengthening Regulatory Oversight for Improved Service Delivery in the Pension Industry,” explored the significance of regulatory measures in maintaining transparency, fairness, and efficiency within the pension sector.
“The third paper, “Improving Accessibility and Service Delivery in RSA Mortgage Financing,” presented by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), addressed ways to enhance accessibility and service delivery for eligible Retirement Savings Account holders in the area of mortgage financing.
The Director General expressed gratitude to the executives and members of LAWAN, NAIPE, and FICAN for their unwavering support and partnership. She encouraged participants to embrace the spirit of learning, collaboration, and progress throughout the event and beyond, wishing everyone a fruitful and rewarding conference.
