Ports & Cargo Gets A New MD, Moos

Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, concessionaire and operator of Terminal C, Tin Can Island Port, Lagos, and subsidiary of SIFAX Group, has appointed Mr. Denrick Moos as its new Managing Director.

Moos is a Masters degree holder in Maritime Studies from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and has over two decades professional experience, including a seven-year stint as a combat officer in the South African Navy. He also has an extensive working experience in Europe.

He started his commercial maritime experience at Ocean African Container Lines as a Terminal Superintendent and later joined the West Africa Container Terminal Nigeria Limited as the Waterside & Planning Manager, with responsibilities for berth and yard planning. He was elevated the General Manager, Operations of the company in 2010.

Between 2013 and 2015, Moos worked at the APM Terminal Management BV Netherlands as the Global Transformation Leader and Head of Global Yard, Gate and Rail Operations. He returned to the West Africa Container Terminal Nigeria Limited in 2015 as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the last position he held before joining Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited.

Moos has attended professional trainings both locally and internationally.

Speaking on the appointment, Mr. John Jenkins, Group Managing Director, SIFAX Group, said the deep knowledge and industry experience of the new Managing Director as well as his record of achievements and excellence would come handy as he pilots the affairs of the company.

He said: “Mr. Denrick Moos is a consummate maritime expert who has shown over the years his leadership acumen, capacity to deliver results and drive growth. His mandate is very simple: improve market penetration, increase revenue and achieve greater operational efficiency. We are convinced that we have made the right decision bringing him on board to run the company at this point in time. And our expectation is that he will meet and surpass all the targets we have set for him as the company consolidates on its position as the leading indigenous port terminal operator in the country.”

SIFAX Group is a multinational corporation with diverse interests in Maritime, Aviation, Haulage & Logistics, Oil & Gas and Hospitality, among others.

It would be recalled that the company recently led a consortium of investors that emerged the preferred bidder for the concession of the Terminal B, Warri old port.
