The Brian Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium, Lagos, will on Saturday host young boxers at the annual children boxing competition tagged Potential.
The event organised by Child Dignity Foundation is aimed at discovering and encouraging young boxing talents to become successful adults.
Head of CDF, Amaja Awogu, says she is inspired by its success and positive impact on the participants.
“Potential started in December 2012 and, during the first edition, we had some outstanding female boxers, one of who is now on scholarship with the Lagos State Government.
“In the last edition, one of our sponsors also picked up another good talent for scholarship. This gives us great joy as we continue to provide the platform for the discovery of young talents.”
The child mentors involved in the programme are Olympian and Commonwealth boxing medalists, Jerry Okorodudu, Adura Lanlehin and Obisia Nwankpa.
