PTML Customs Command Rakes In N10bn Revenue, January

With the PTML Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) determined strategy to improve and enforce a new standard in revenue collection for the year 2018, has started yield as the Command has in January alone collected total sum of N9,967,751,491.00 (Nine billion, nine hundred and sixty seven million, seven hundred and fifty one thousand, four hundred and ninety one naira, no kobo) this year 2018 while in the corresponding period of 2017 under review, the Command generated below the 2018 record as a total sum of N6,933,421,165.00 was realized with a difference of N3,034,330,326.00.

The report of the collections released by the Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Yakubu A.M shown an improved figures that it was due to some changes made in policy and approach to ensure full compliance is keyed into by Stakeholders to make the business terrain more virile.

In reacting to the figures recorded,  The PTML Command Area Controller, Comptroller Modupeola Aremu said We will place more emphasis on the Federal Government policy on 24 hour port operations to enhance effective productivity in order to efficiently block any revenue leakage that may obstruct the actualization of collecting maximum duty, on all goods clearance documentation made, and that several awareness programmes have been introduced on the danger involved in false declaration and under declaration of consignments, adding that she will not entertain congestion but ensure to encourage more foreign investors to do good business at the Command.

The Controller, therefore warn the operators saying any clearing agent and their importers found deliberately to frustrate her officers efforts would not only be arrested but exposed to the public, because the Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) mandate is to make PTML Command approachable, business friendly that can attract more investors, insisting that this year revenue will overshoot 2017 with a total sum of N98,825,815,515.00 revenue realized.

Aremu also commended the efforts of the Command officers for efficient delivery of their key role without compromising their duties for corruption. She applauded the Col. Ali led Management on their fatherly support, saying that through their encouragement the Officers were motivated to do more, she said.

The performance of the command was highlighted adding that from the inception of her being in charge of the Command, she has recorded tremendous achievements through her officers and men credible display of dexterity, commitment and transformation in repositioning process of meeting the desired results of the Service.
