Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC’s Kano station has been awarded re-certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This recognition follows a successful audit of the station under the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) standards.

Adetola Vanessa Uansohia (Mrs.), Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, explained that ISAGO is a specialized audit designed to provide global oversight for ground handling service providers. The audit focuses on standardizing operational procedures and management practices to harmonize best practices among ground handling stakeholders worldwide.

The re-certification signifies that SAHCO’s operations at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport adhere to ISAGO standards, demonstrating the company’s commitment to maintaining globally accepted industry best practices. The comprehensive audit covers several key areas: Organization and Management (ORM), Load Control (LOD), Passenger and Baggage Handling (PAB), Aircraft Handling and Loading (HDL), Aircraft Ground Movement (AGM), and Cargo and Mail Handling (CGM).

SAHCO has pledged to continuously offer top-notch passenger, ramp, and cargo handling services. The company aims to meet and exceed best practices and international standards, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, skilled personnel, and efficient procedures. This commitment is intended to satisfy customers and benefit all stakeholders.

The ISAGO audit is crucial for promoting safe ground operations and identifying high-risk areas. It also streamlines the audit process by eliminating redundant audits from airlines, thereby fostering uniformity and enhancing quality standards in aviation ground handling.

SAHCO’s responsibilities encompass all activities from the moment an aircraft lands until it takes off again. The company ensures that ground handling tasks are performed efficiently, promptly, and safely, using the appropriate tools and equipment.

SAHCO Plc, a publicly traded company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, was incorporated under the Nigerian Company and Allied Matters Act of 1990 as a provider of aviation ground handling services.
