Salim to improve on SON service delivery as well as relationships with stakeholders

Mallam Farouk Salim, Director General/Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) assured stakeholders to make SON better by building on existing structures and achievements over the years, to improve on our service delivery as well as relationships with stakeholders, including the media.

The SON DG disclosed this during his welcome address at SON capacity development workshop for Journalists in Lagos on Today, July 27, 2021 with theme: ‘Improved Synergy To Promote Standardisation’  saying this interactive workshop and look forward to a mutually rewarding relationship in our collective efforts to make Nigeria a better place for us and the coming generations.

 

He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for giving me this opportunity to further contribute to nation building through the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON)

 

He further stated that since assumption of duty, we have interacted extensively with the different categories of stakeholders on how we can collectively take son to the next level for the overall good of the Nigerian economy and the welfare of its people.

 

“As part of efforts in this regard, an independent committee of distinguished Nigerians were charged with the responsibility of taking a critical look at our structure, processes, practices and service offerings as well as public perception.

 

“We are committed to improving on our communication with stakeholders at all levels to get greater buy-in into our programmes and activities that are targeted at customer satisfaction, consumer protection and welfare as well as the positive growth of the nation’s economy.

 

“We are providing a more conducive atmosphere for our staff to deliver on the mandate of son and collaborate more with our different stakeholders to improve on the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.

“Already, we are working with the National Assembly to strengthen our quality infrastructure such as equiping regional laboratories to bring our services nearer to the stakeholders and make greater contributions to the diversification of the nation’s economy. The capacity of the national metrology institute is already being enhanced with acquisition of new equipment for calibration activities in diverse areas of measurement like flow, volume, he added.

Salim highlighted major strides and achievements since my assumption of duty in Septembers 2020, will be distributed to you shortly knowing that it would be one of the questions to expect from you.

 

He concluded that directors and heads of departments would be providing you greater insight into different areas of son activities to broaden your horizon and provide you more information in order to enhance your reportage.
