Following the emergency alert, LASEMA promptly activated its Response Team from the Command and Control Centre in Alausa. The team arrived at the scene of the incident by *0009hrs*, a mere 20 minutes after the distress call was received. Their immediate and coordinated efforts were crucial in managing the situation effectively.

Upon arrival, LASEMA’s Response Team discovered that the fire originated from one of the rooms used as an office on the third floor of a three-storey building. A thorough investigation conducted by LASEMA’s Lagos Response Team (LRT) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in one of the affected rooms.

LASEMA’s report highlighted the prompt intervention and coordinated efforts of both the LRT and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service. Their rapid response played a pivotal role in containing the fire, which was quickly extinguished, preventing it from spreading to adjoining rooms on the same floor. The fire was confined to two rooms, which were completely gutted, resulting in a total loss of properties estimated to be worth millions of naira.

Despite the extensive damage to the two rooms, the quick actions of the emergency responders ensured that there were no casualties. The LASEMA report confirmed that there were no injuries or loss of life in the incident.

Emergency responders have since completed their operations, which included extinguishing the fire, conducting a thorough dampening down process, securing the area, and enlightening the building’s occupants on the proper use of electrical appliances to prevent future incidents. The search and rescue operation was also completed successfully, and the area has been declared safe.

LASEMA’s swift and effective response to the fire outbreak at Kudirat Abiola Way underscores the agency’s readiness and capability to handle emergency situations promptly, ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Lagos State.
