The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has actively engaged Vice President Kashim Shettima in a collaborative effort to achieve the ambitious N5.0 trillion revenue target for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in 2024. The meeting, held at the State House, showcased the NCS’s commitment to working closely with key stakeholders in both the government and private sector to enhance revenue generation and fortify economic contributions.

Vice President Shettima, recognizing the pivotal role of Customs in national development, not only pledged unwavering support for the NCS’s mandate but also commended CGC Adeniyi for his proactive initiatives. In a demonstration of appreciation and strategic engagement, Adeniyi paid a thank-you visit to Vice President Shettima at the State House.
This visit, occurring on January 5, 2024, aimed to express gratitude to Shettima for his crucial participation and keynote speech delivery on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at the recently concluded 2023 CGC’s conference held in Lagos. During the conference, key issues and strategies for the NCS were deliberated, contributing significantly to the enhancement of customs operations.
Adeniyi capitalized on the visit to provide Vice President Shettima with a comprehensive briefing on the outcomes and resolutions from the CGC’s conference. The discussions covered a broad spectrum of topics, including customs activities, trade facilitation, and strategies to combat illicit trade, illustrating Vice President Shettima’s pivotal role in steering the NCS towards achieving its revenue target and ensuring effective customs operations for the nation’s economic prosperity.
